Clean Fuel Cell Engine To Debut In 2008 PDF Print E-mail

A group of northern European companies will install a clean fuel-cell engine aboard a supply ship in 2008.  Iceland will convert its entire fishing fleet to to hydrogen fuel cell engines. The engines are as much as six times more expensive than diesel generators but are up to 50 percent more efficient, halve the carbon emissions and virtually eliminate sulphur and nitrogen oxide exhausts. Fuel cells also have no moving parts, which reduces maintenance. They are also silent and vibration free.

 
EU Balks At New US Scanning Requirements PDF Print E-mail

The EU Taxation Commissioner is warning that new US regulations that require all cargo containers bound for the US to be scanned before arrival in this country will mean major restructuring of foreign ports, and will place an additional burden on European taxpayers and businesses.  The EU is considering filing a complaint with the World Trade Organization over the requirements.
