Port Of Los Angeles Plans Worldwide Satellite Offices PDF Print E-mail

In an effort to further promote its assets globally, the Port of Los Angeles has released a Request for Proposal (RFP), seeking qualified firms and individuals to provide international marketing and trade promotion services in 10 locations worldwide.

With satellite marketing offices currently representing the Port in major cities throughout the world, the Port seeks to continue operations in the each of the following specific regions, countries and cities: Australia/New Zealand, Chile, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Europe, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan and New York/New Jersey.

Successful candidates will assume the roles currently filled by existing international marketing representatives and join the Port’s International Marketing Network (IMN), an extension of the Port’s Los Angeles-based marketing and customer relations team. The IMN provides the Port with a strong presence in established and potential cargo markets, and actively assists U.S. and foreign exporters seeking to expand their product distribution in the global marketplace.

Proposal terms include a one-year contract (with two additional one-year renewal options) for experienced marketing representatives adept at integrating extensive maritime experience and foreign cultural knowledge to foster business relationships on behalf of the Port. The deadline to submit proposals is Monday, August 13, by 4 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time.

 
Authority Approves $3.1 Million In Improvements for Port Of Houston PDF Print E-mail

The Port Commission of the Port of Houston Authority has approved $3.1 million in construction and maintenance contracts for the port.  The improvements include the installation of a redundant transformer for the Barbour's Cut terminal; Stage 2 of the marine gate expansion for the Bayport Marine expansion, which includes the installation of canopies, booths and pedestals, as well as the installation of two platform scales, two additional exit lanes and two entrance lanes with truck scales.  The port will also advertise for competitive sealed bids for splash zone painting for Wharf nos 1-7 and the Lash Dock at Barbour's Cut; and for an air emission inventory at the Port of Houston as a follow-on to a 2002 study of vessel emissions in the Houston-Galveston area.
